The Starksboro Selectboard is made up of five elected members. The Board is the central point of Starksboro’s local town government. It is responsible for the general oversight of the town’s affairs. The Selectboard as a whole acts as the official legal representative for the town.
The Board’s work is focused on the following three primary roles:
- To enact town ordinances, regulations, and policies;
- To prepare and present a town budget and tax rate for the town and oversee all town expenditures, supervision of personnel, and management of town property; and
- To function in a quasi-judicial capacity with responsibilities to include, but not limited to: hearing appeals to the local board of health, acting as the local liquor control board, reviewing town right-of-way decisions and reclassifications, and addressing personnel matters.
It is the responsibility of the Town Clerk to implement decisions from the board.
The Selectboard is also responsible for appointing representatives to town boards and commissions, as well as other town vacancies as they arise.
The Selectboard meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and can be attended in person or virtually via ZOOM. Please see the agendas for details.
