Starksboro: Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the USA
July 4th, 2:50 EDT, Let Freedom Ring: National Bell Ringing details below*
July 5th, 12:30 pm Tour of 1802 Village Cemetery led by a VT Old Cemetery Association volunteer; host Cecilia Elwert. Parking in Parsonage Road lot of Robinson School.
July 5th, 2:00 pm, at SV Meeting House Period Sermon and religious history in Vermont at the time of the revolution, presented by Mike Blakeslee, refreshments following.
July 9th, 5:30 pm POTLUCK followed by Team Trivia hosted by SVFD Auxiliary. Ice Cream (blueberry) made by David Russell and Ben & Jerry’s vanilla on a sugar cone or in a cup provided by the FB Church Starksboro & New Community Project, VT.
July 10th, 7:00-9:00 pm Barn Dance, at the Hurd’s barn, 367 Rublee Road, Starksboro, Lausanne Allen, calling, the band, Town Hollers.
Saturday, July 11th, Festivities at Cota Field Please bring your lawn chairs & water bottle. *Rain date, Sunday, July 12th (no wagon rides provided on Sunday).
- 11:00 -1:00, Horse-drawn wagon rides provided by David Russell
- 11:00- 12:00, Hand mowing demonstration and vintage farm equipment exhibit provided by Dan Baker.
- 11:00-1:00, Demonstration of working with natural roofing slate, basic sheet metal techniques led by Galen Helms and members of G. Helms Construction.
- 12 - 2:00, Fiber Frolic led by Lausanne Allen with members of Twist O’ Wool Guild, Strands, and 4-H youth.

- 12-2:00 TBD games for kids, supervised by TBD, corn hole for adults,
- 12-2:00 - LUNCH Vegetarian option and BBQ brisket sliders or burgers from grass feed beef donated by G. Helms Construction LLC. Food provided by donation with all proceeds directed to the restoration of the church’s belfry.
* Let Freedom Ring-July 4th across the nation from sea to shining sea. The national bell ringing of 13 tolls references the original 13 colonies that composed the United States of America in 1776. You can participate at 2:50 pm from your home by ringing a handheld bell The rope-pulled bell at Robinson School at the route 116 entrance, the Baptist Church or the Village Meeting House will be rung with one more toll for Vermont, the 14th state of the union. If you do not have a bell to ring you can get a free app to bring a bell tower right to your fingertips on either an iPhone or Android.
