Starksboro Awarded State Grant to Tackle Housing Needs
STARKSBORO, Vt. (June 11, 2025) — The Town of Starksboro has been awarded an $11,407 Municipal Planning Grant from the Vermont Department of Housing and Community Development to support local efforts to address housing challenges.
The Starksboro Planning Commission will use the funds to hire a consultant who will lead community engagement and research aimed at identifying innovative ways to improve housing and development policy in town. The project will inform updates to the town’s Land Use and Development Regulations and upcoming Town Plan.
“We’re excited to have new resources as we work toward solutions that reflect our community’s needs,” said Planning Commission Chair Dennis Casey. “This grant will help us better understand where housing should go, what types we need, and how we can make it happen.”
The project will include a series of community events focused on gathering public input and creating a locally driven housing vision. The effort will align with Act 181, a 2024 state law promoting regional coordination on housing policy, and will be conducted in partnership with the Addison County Regional Planning Commission.
Consultant proposals are being accepted through June 20. More information is available at: www.starksborovt.org/bids.
